I'm Done! Thank you, Jesus,...

Good morning friend!
Glad you stopped by...Here's how I spent my time since last seeing you...

I finally did it...done...kaput...over, Je suis fini!
When I want to do a project...I want to enjoy the "doing" of it.  This project gave me less than that...inadequate is the word.  I may be 74 but that doesn't mean I know how to quilt.  My granddaughter thinks I can...(a few baby quilts makes Not, a seasoned quilter).  But...I didn't want to disappoint her, so I said yes.  I am my own worst enemy! lol
So, the struggle began.  It took me about a month to finally finish it but with no one to help me but YouTube...I had to force myself to get it done...but I did it...finished.  Sam picked it up and said "Thank you Gamma!  I love it!"...that my friends, is why I did it...those words will make you walk over a pit of lit coals just to see them smile.

Now how did that candy get into my pin box?  Do tell!

A million pins!  I feel like a pincushion! lolol

I didn't flip any tables but...at times, I probably could have! Lolol

I needed to keep the girls yesterday...Sam's daycare texted on the morning of...that they would be closed...that very day...I guess no notice, is a thing nowadays...$632 a WEEK ...with no retro reimbursement. I wouldn't pay that but, it's a "specialized" academy (whatever that is). But, I digress...Lottie watched my YouTube video about a woman's stash.  She watched for a solid 6 1/2 minutes!  Impressive!  Another seamstress perhaps?  I really hope so...It was a dying art until lately.  Seems more of the young are taking it up again!  Good for them...

I like to "watch" movies...series, etc., when at the sewing machine.  This popped up in my YT feed!  Haven't seen it in years!  I loved Debbie Reynolds...wonderful movie!

This is the next project.  It's for Laura (my sister's Ex-husbands, now wife).  They've been married for about 25, 26 years?  Don't know.  The only reason why I consented to making it was that she helped out when my sister was going through her cancer treatments a few years ago.  She says one thing and does another...never returns phone calls or text.  I don't know how to deal with un-reliable people.  You have someone like this in your family?

Anyway, these are the colors I need to work with.  It'll be a Disappearing 9 Patch.  Should be easy enough...

Well, I suppose I need to get busy...Hope you all are well and safe from the snowstorms!  Our 2 inches turned into ice...we just stayed home.
Until next time...

  1. Well, the quilt is lovely, but it looks like a buggar to do. I am not used to seeing ruffles on a quilt, but it turned out very nice. You did very nice work! As for these projects for others...you are a better man than I. There are people who quilt for others as a business and I'd be tempted to send a link to those services to anyone who asks for you to sew a project that you really don't want to do. I'm not so nice...I refuse to work with any fabrics that I don't choose. Poor quality fabrics gunk up your machine and it costs me to get it cleaned after such a project. Plus, it is just painful to push through a project I am not enjoying. I hope you have something you love for yourself on the docket! You are a good egg!

    1. Lolol...I must have a "ask me" sign on my back! I really need to learn the word No. Hadn't thought about the quality of fabric messing with my machines! Thanks for that! Laura did at least, buy her fabric at a charming quilt shop just south of us. I buy mine there to. Good stuff.

  2. You are hilarious! I laughed and chuckled through your post. First of all that quilt for your granddaughter is beautiful, love the pretty ruffled border. Your disappearing nine patch fabrics are pretty. Sounds like you lead a busy life! I am 77, so you are still a "kid" to me. ;)

  3. I've had projects that I've done before that I felt just like you with the baby quilt. The upcoming project you have on hand looks like it will be beautiful. I love the log cabin quilts. I have the first quilt that my mother-in-law ever made, and it is a log cabin. Loved the puzzle graphic! lol

  4. You did well with the frilly quilt, it does look good. Frills are fiddly and yes all those pins one has to be careful. That wasn't good re the daycare either, leaves all in a difficult position.
I have a daughter in law who doesn't answer her phone or replies in two days time, she has always been like that and is most apologetic when she does reply.

  5. Loving that quilt! The ruffled border made it so sweet! Your snow humor meme cracked me up. Can't believe the prices of daycare these days. What do folks do who don't have family members to help? Anyway, love your blog! Have a great weekend!

  6. OMG. You had me on the 2-4 years for the puzzle. I've been using YouTube for learning sewing stuff too. Have you seen those fabric clips. Wonder clips or something like that. I got myself the pins that I always used (hahaha on candy in yours), and then got smaller wood clothespins that are working. But I gotta confess, those coloured wonder clips are softly calling my name .... buy me ... we'll be useful ... and fun to look at and use ... buy me ....
